A Somewhat Unrelated Story About Nothing Much.

Once upon a time, I had a friend who had a birthday. My friend was somewhat notorious for her Lego haircut, so on a very special trip to Legoland we picked her very own Mug, with her name on it. And, I made her a little card to go with. Just to show her how special she is. This is it -  it sure is special too.

Hello! It's been a trillion years since last we spoke, but things have been going on, for sure, and here's one of them. My big ole' "Yes" landed on the cover of the San Diego City Beat.  You can read the interview here. Cool huh? How have you been?

I've been promising myself for so long now to pay more attention to you, dear blog. Almost forever in fact.
I think the time has come for me to do it. For real. Yes.

But it is kinda fun. I've been playing a bit with type and watercolor. Being new to a city is daunting,
and a little lonely at first. So I spend a bit of time these days drawing. I'm also attending a watercolor
class at a local art school. As you can imagine I'm a wee bit of an anomaly in my class of over 50's ladies,
but it's a good opportunity to learn some new tricks. I like new tricks.

Bear Hug

I was lucky enough to be asked to create the launch ad for Air New Zealand's rather flash new plane. It was a last minute job and lot's of fun to do. I love a cheeky headline. Design by the clever peeps at 99.

Fear.

I've a case of The Fear.  Have self-prescribed to watch this video by design superstar Milton Glaser to cure
all ills and grant world peace. Highly recommend that you watch it too, you can thank me later.

New Pants.

And not so new. I've been updating my folio, and finishing things that weren't quite finished. For instance, this bloke has new pants. This makes him deadly handsome.

I don't know Emilia personally, but I do know she's a very talented fashion designer, based in London. So when I was asked to whip up a little somethin' somethin' for her bridal shower I wanted to take the pacific island theme and concentrate on the clothing side of it. This is where it ended up - not really polynesian and not totally fashion. It's just fun. Oh, and you can check out Emilia's covetous dresses and such here. . Delicious.

Doodle.

I quite fancy primary colours. And black. And animal print....snakeskin, leopard...mmm. The tackier the better. Unfortunately for Tacky it's often inapproriate, but I will if I can.
